BOE launches 2020 flexible folding OLED product

On March 20th, BOE stated on the investor interaction platform that in 2020, BOE will ship nearly one million flexible folding OLED products, and its global shipments are second only to Samsung. At present, in addition to existing cooperative customers, BOE’s flexible folding products are simultaneously expanding new customers and new products with mass production capabilities such as curling. With the current market demand for new forms of display products such as folding and curling continues to heat up, BOE flexible folding product shipments are expected to continue to grow rapidly.

It is understood that BOE’s “R&D and industrialization of high-resolution flexible bendable AMOLED display technology for mobile applications” won the special prize of Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award, and the flexible OLED full-screen display technology won the German IFA “Innovative Display Technology Gold Award” . At present, BOE’s flexible folding screen products have been adopted and recognized by global leading customer brands. Globally renowned mobile phone brands such as Honor, OPPO, Apple, Motorola, LG, and Nubia released in the past two years have all adopted BOE flexible displays.

On March 16, an investor asked BOE A on the investor interaction platform about the current yield rate of the company’s OLED production line. He said that the yield rate of the company’s flexible AMOLED production line ranks among the world’s leaders, and the yield rate of mature products is above 80%.

According to data, BOE currently has 4 OLED production lines, one each in Ordos, Chengdu, Mianyang, and Chongqing. Among them, Mianyang and Chongqing are planned to be 6-generation all-flex AMOLED production lines, and Chengdu has realized “rigid to flexible”.

BOE Chengdu’s 6th generation plant (B7) is my country’s first flexible AMOLED production line, which has achieved mass production with a yield rate of over 80%; Mianyang plant (B11) was put into production in 2019, and the current production capacity is still climbing.

As for the sixth-generation plant (B12) of the BOE Chongqing plant, according to a report from Chongqing Voice in January, the production line has been completed and the production equipment is being installed. BOE issued a 20 billion yuan fundraising announcement earlier, of which 6 billion yuan will be used to increase capital to build this production line in Chongqing. The production line is planned to achieve mass production in the second half of 2021. By then, BOE’s flexible OLED supply capacity is expected to increase significantly To the monthly input of 144,000 motherboards.
