Causes and Solutions of Common Line Defects in TFT LCD Displays

In TFT LCD liquid crystal display module, according to the formation of different reasons and differences in location and shape, line defects can be divided into screen breakage class line defects, screen short circuit class line defects, short circuit between the terminals class line defects, drive abnormal class defects, etc., the phenomenon and causes of each type of line defects, please see the following table.

Screen breakage and short circuit is usually due to the screen itself in the production process of dust pollution and other factors, drive abnormal class line defects is the problem of the drive circuit, several other types of line defects and display terminal process, these types of line defects can be adjusted through the drive circuit, replace COF/COG and other methods to achieve the repair of line defects.

LCD line defects are the most common defects. Broken wire class line defects to data line breakage is the main, in the display design into the broken line repair design countermeasures, can greatly improve the product qualification rate.

The repair method is mainly divided into: off-screen repair and on-screen repair two design countermeasures.

1. Off-screen repair design of broken wires:

Through off-screen alignment, the data signal is synchronously transmitted to the broken line that cannot be displayed normally, so as to realize the normal work of the display.

2. On-screen repair design for broken wires:

Can be achieved with pixel design, by borrowing the path on the pixel, to achieve the data line disconnection of the upper and lower parts of the conductive, can save off-screen repair design often used when the amplifier OP, reduce product development costs. Different display modes, different borrowing paths, different pixel structures, and corresponding repair design solutions are different.
