In 2008, the domestic flat panel display industry, represented by BOE and CSOT, grew explosively and formed a national strategic pillar industry, while TFT polarizer — one of the three core components of LCD, was completely blank in mainland China and was monopolized by Japan, Korea and Taiwan, which seriously restricted the development of the domestic flat panel display industry.
In 2009, Sunnypol’s team of polarizer experts headed by Zhang Jianjun started a comprehensive technical research on key TFT polarizer technologies, which took 4 years to finally overcome 10 key core technologies of TFT polarizer manufacturing in 2013, and completed and put into production the first wide (1490mm) TFT polarizer production line in China, breaking the overseas monopoly of TFT polarizer market for a long time and filling the gap of domestic TFT polarizer.
Using the technical achievements of the project, Sunnypol has expanded and put into operation three more TFT polarizer production lines in Shenzhen and Hefei respectively, further strengthening the domestic TFT polarizer industry and forming a complement to the major domestic high-generation LCD panel lines.
